The business attraction organization is set to showcase Puerto Rico’s advantages as a leading destination for tech/innovation entrepreneurs and investors, highlighting the island’s value proposition.
SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO – Invest Puerto Rico (InvestPR), the island’s business attraction organization, announced its participation in the South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference and Festivals that took place in Austin, Texas, on March 10, 2024. This premier event, known for bringing together the brightest minds in technology, film, and music, provides an ideal platform for InvestPR to highlight Puerto Rico’s unique value proposition as a top destination for entrepreneurs and investors.
Invest Puerto Rico aims to foster connections, encourage investment, and drive the island’s economic development through its participation in SXSW, which provides an unparalleled stage to spotlight Puerto Rico’s strengths in tech and entrepreneurship alongside our leadership in other key sectors such as the creative industries (film, music, etc.), bioscience, and others.
"We are eager to showcase how Puerto Rico's strategic location, attractive tax incentives, and dynamic business ecosystem not only position us as a key player but also as the premier destination where the future of technology and innovation is being crafted. It's here, amidst our thriving sectors, that entrepreneurs and investors can truly leverage what's next," said Ella Woger-Nieves, Chief Executive Officer of Invest Puerto Rico.
InvestPR’s presence at SXSW 2024 included a sponsorship of the Inc. Founders House, a hub for entrepreneurs to connect and share ideas, and hosting a panel titled "Puerto Rico - A Founder's Paradise." This event delved into Puerto Rico's burgeoning technology landscape and its emergence as a competitive tech hub. Following the panel, InvestPR invites attendees to the Happy Hour with Rums of Puerto Rico at FOXY’s Proper Pub, offering a taste of the island’s rich culture and opportunities for networking.
During the panel, attendees gained insights from esteemed industry leaders such as Brian Bourgerie, InvestPR's Innovation, Investment, and Entrepreneurship Partner, Hector Jirau, Executive Director of Parallel 18, and Brandon Iván Peña, owner of Coffee 787. Bourgerie shared expertise in fostering innovation, Jirau offered insights into entrepreneurship, and Peña shared his entrepreneurial journey, highlighting Puerto Rico's potential as a thriving hub for founders and innovators.
“SXSW is where innovation, culture, and technology converge. Our participation strategically reinforced Puerto Rico’s standing as a prime investment and innovation hub. It’s not what’s next; it’s where. And we believe Puerto Rico is where the future of entrepreneurship and innovation can thrive,” added Nicole Vilalte, InvestPR’s Chief Marketing Officer.
